This is a 1989 Porsche 911 Cabriolet. It
is a two owner car with original paint. The owner gave
it to his daughter for three years and she never checked
the oil. After being run low on oil the engine threw #5
rod.
Redline Service took ownership and began
a complete bumper to bumper mechanical and cosmetic
reconstruction of the vehicle.
Everything was looked at cleaned or
replaced. The window and door mechanism were taken apart
cleaned and then re lubed. Cosmetically the entire
undercarriage of the car was media blasted with walnut
chips. This process was to remove all the debris and
Cozmolene from all undercarriage components thus making
the underside of this car clean enough to eat off.
The engine was torn down all the way to
the crankshaft (Chuck spent 82 hours detailing and
rebuilding this engine), Crankshaft main bearing, rod
bearings and intermediate bearings. Timing chains, oil
feed tensioners, piston and cylinders, valve guides and
factory clutch was installed.
We installed turbo tie rod ends and it
has new front and rear Bilstein shocks. The rear axles
were repacked and new boots added as well as inspecting
and repacking the front wheel bearings. We then replaced
the rear brakes and turned the rotors.
The front brakes were good
and it
has brand new Michelin tires on the front.
All A/C lines and compressor have been
replaced. The car also has the upgraded A/C condenser
from Performance Air of Orange County, CA.
The paint only needed a small amount of
touch up. We then began a three day long detailing of
the paint. This included the applying of Echelon
protective coating. Which means this car will not need
any wax for 5 years. This product has an added scratch,
stone chip, and UV fade resistance. There is no evidence
of any paint or bodywork on the entire car. A new top
and both power seats are from Tony at Autobahn Interiors
San Diego, CA.
The car was taken May 1st 2010 to a (SAR)
Porsche Club Of America Concourse event (class C-5).
This class is a five man judged class. This car is so
clean it received a score of 321.7 out of 325 possible
points and first place.
